José María Fernández de la Mela

Head of Legal, Spanish Arbitration Court and Spanish Chamber of Commerce

Previously, José María was a senior associate in the Madrid office of Uría Menéndez, specialising in dispute resolution. He joined the firm in 2004 and developed his international experience and profile by spending time in the Miami office of Holland & Knight in 2008 and in the New York office of Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP between 2014 and 2015.

José María regularly lectures on the LL.M. and LL.B. programmes at IE Law School in Madrid.

He received a double degree in Law and Business Administration from Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE) in Madrid and an LL.M. from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
